Lynn Hanson is a acrylic and mixed media artist living in the Seattle area.
Lynn Hanson is a a contemporary abstract painter. In her current series of acrylic paintings, Winds of Change, abstract compositions are a swirl of activity that explore Lynn’s changing internal landscape. Ladder shapes was well as flowing lines are devices that connect and unify organic shapes, symbolizing a new sense of freedom and joy. Unrestrained in palate and filled with movement, she is responding to a new optimism in her life.
In this series, Lynn is exploring how the brain changes habits and thinking patterns.
Her goal in these paintings is to express what she imagines this process to be. At times, when life circumstances change there is a flow in new connections and brain change happens naturally as represented by the flowing ribbon forms. Other times changing these habits and patterns takes hard work and repetition, symbolized by ladder shapes. Climbing a ladder takes effort and is repetitive.
Lynn says many times change causes discomfort so she has chosen to embrace this process in this series of paintings with colors she would not normally use in her palate. The most recent works in this series are much simpler and show integration and connections happening in a more organic way. The shapes are now joining, morphing into each other and floating into each other.
